Rescheduling your Wedding Day

WEDDING PLANNING, WEDDINGS

These are worrying times and many of you will have already been devastated to have your wedding day postponed, and many more thinking that this is something you will have to do in the near future.

We’ve drawn up a list of things that you should be doing and thinking about, to ensure your rescheduled big day is all you’ve dreamed of.

1.Contact all of your vendors straight away. You will need to check if they are available for your rescheduled date. Your venue will be the most important one to check. Remember there will be hundreds of couples in the same position as you, and if you want to secure another date this year, you’ll need to be quick to make sure your venue and other vendors have the date free.

2. Make sure your deposits are secure and if your vendor is not available, make sure you can get it back! This situation is totally out of your control, and any vendor worth their salt should be happy to help you.

3. If you have vendors that are not available on your rescheduled date, don’t panic, there’s lots of us out there who would be delighted to be part of your day, if we’re free.

4. If your vendors are free on your scheduled date, consider your payment schedule with them. If you can, pay what you owe on the dates they were originally due, or some part of it. This will help to keep small businesses going through very hard times, and they’ll love you for it!

5. Remember the excitement you had when you started to plan your big day? Well look on the bright side, you get to do it all again !

6. If you are changing from a summer to a winter wedding there are a number of things to consider. Your original flower selection may not be available in winter. You should look to see what will be in seasons and plan your colours around that. Talk to your florist, they’ll be happy to advise.

7. The most fabulous dress you’ve ever imagined, which has become yours, may have been perfect for a sunny day in June, but may leave you chilly in December. Consider accessorising with a small jacket or shawl to get you through your outside time.

8. Low light levels. Remember if your planning your day for November, December or January the days will be very short. It gets dark by 4.30pm. You may need to have your ceremony a little earlier, to give you a chance to have some amazing outdoor photos done. If you are planning on moving it to near Christmas remember you’ll have beautiful Christmas lights and decorations around to help lift your celebrations and photographs.

9. Be prepared for colder and maybe wetter weather. If you are planning on getting your photos done outside, consider buying some funky wellies, and beautiful umbrellas for your bridal party, they’ll look great in your photos!

10. Be sure your photographer is skilled with creating fabulous light for your photos. If you change to a winter wedding your photographer will need to have his/her own lights, to make sure you and your bridal party look at your absolute best!

Remember these times are worrying for us all, but we are all here to help make your big day every bit as special and wonderful as you’ve imagined. Try not to stress to much, and start putting a plan in place as soon as you can. Good luck, and if there is anything we can do to help, please don’t hesitate to give us a call or drop us an enquiry.
